During a routine inspection

Three people we spoke with told us that they knew what information was in their care plans and that they were involved in making decisions about their care and support. One person showed us their own care plan during the visit.

People said they were able to talk about things in the home and give feedback to the staff about the service during their regular meetings round the dining table. We were told that staff responded to any issues or concerns that were raised.

Everybody we spoke with told us that their privacy and dignity were respected by staff and there was always enough staff on duty.

Everyone we spoke with told us that they were happy with their rooms and told us that their rooms were individual and that they were able to have their personal possessions in them. One person said "I go to my room when I want to be on my own, but it's also nice to come out and talk to the others and the staff".

During a routine inspection

Woodlands accommodates three adults who have a learning disability, during this visit two people were out at either day care or horticulture. The one person who was having a day at home spoke with us and showed us round their home.

We were told that during the week each person had activities routinely planned so they knew how they would be spending their time. The majority visited the company day centre at least twice a week while others attended horticulture and a third person worked in two shops at various times.

The care records of one person was seen and this was discussed with them, they told us they made their own decisions and were very well supported by the staff.

They invited us to see their room which was individually decorated with a large amount of personal possessions. They showed us the animals that each person owned, fish, birds in an aviary and a new cat.

We were told 'I like living here, the staff are friendly and look after us, although sometimes I like to have some quiet time'.
