All Inspections

During a routine inspection

The home was clean, tidy and had a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There were four carers and the manager on duty when we arrived. The people using the service had complex needs and were not able to give verbal feedback but we were able to observe their interaction with staff to understand their experience of living at the home. We also spoke to staff, and examined the records kept at the home.

We noted that people were engaged with the activities by the home. A person using the service went out for shopping with a carer while another person went to a day centre. We noted that one person who used the service had a one-to-one staff support which indicated that their needs were assessed and responded to by the home.

People using the service appeared well and discussions with the manager confirmed that most people received regular visits by families and friends.

We noted staff had knowledge about people's needs and how to respond to them. We saw that staff recorded their interactions with people using the service and significant events after every shift as part of a handover. This enabled staff to be aware of what they should do in order to meet people's needs.

During a routine inspection

We observed the people who use the service while being supported in the home. We talked to some visitors and care staff. The visitors told us that they were satisfied with the care provided at the home and they were confident that the needs of the people who use the service were met. They said the home communicated well with them there were good arrangements for reviewing care plans and dealing with concerns.
