During our review of the service and our visit to the home we spoke with two people, one person who worked at the home and the registered manager. We also spoke to the local authority who provided support in reviewing some aspects of the care that was provided by the manager. We saw that support was being provided for two people within a family environment. The people said they had lived there for a number of years and told us they had always been happy and liked living at the home.
The people also told us that they led a fairly independent life style and enjoyed doing a range of activities which included; going into the local town, going to day centres and social events and having regular trips and holidays.
People told us they did this either independently or with the manager, their family and two staff members who the manager had employed to support them.
One person talked about the things they did saying, 'We get out a lot. There are day centres and shops and trips that we sort out together.'
People told us they felt safe and talked to us about the direct care and support they received with one person saying, 'They look after me all the time. It feels just like home and it is my home. I don't want to live anywhere else.'
We observed that the manager and carers provided support in a sensitive, helpful and friendly way. We also saw that they treated people with respect, whilst maintaining a positive and happy atmosphere throughout the home.
