Updated 23 October 2025
We carried out a responsive assessment of Hunters Lodge care home between 24 October 2025 and 14 November 2025. At this assessment we looked at 17 quality statements across the safe, effective, caring and well-led key questions. This inspection was in response to concerns received about staff failing to recognise when people became unwell and delays in obtaining medical advise when people’s health needs had changed.
Staff understood and followed the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) and were aware of people's rights to refuse care. The management team and staff worked to ensure that people's choices and wishes were respected.
The governance of the service was effective. This meant people received safe and high-quality care. Leaders and staff had a shared vision and culture based on learning and trust. Leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. Staff felt supported to give feedback and told us they were treated equally. The service worked with the local community to deliver the best possible care and outcomes for people.
