The service is a care home providing accommodation and personal care to older people, including people living with dementia. At this assessment, we found people received safe, effective and person-centred care. People’s needs and risks were assessed, monitored and reviewed. Staff worked with relatives and health and social care professionals to support continuity of care and respond when people’s needs changed. People told us they felt safe, and relatives were confident staff understood and managed risks appropriately.

Staff treated people with kindness, dignity and respect. They knew people well and supported their individual preferences, routines and interests. People were encouraged to make choices and maintain their independence, with staff providing assistance when needed. One person told us, “It’s all right here. They look after me very well.” People and their relatives were involved in care planning and had opportunities to provide feedback. Managers were approachable and responsive when concerns were raised. The provider maintained links with local community and faith groups, which helped people remain connected and take part in activities that were meaningful to them.

There were systems to monitor the quality and safety of the service, including audits, reviews of incidents and feedback. Staff felt supported and able to speak openly with managers. The provider used learning from feedback and events to make improvements and support the ongoing development of the service.
