Person-centred Care

Score: 3

The provider made sure people were at the centre of their care and treatment choices and they decided, in partnership with people, how to respond to any relevant changes in people’s needs.

People had opportunities to take part in a range of activities both within the home and in the wider community. People were regularly supported to access community facilities and attend events and places of personal interest.

Staff demonstrated a good understanding of people’s lives, interests and backgrounds, and used this knowledge to build meaningful relationships.

This helped to ensure people received consistent, personalised support from staff who knew them well.

Listening to and involving people

Score: 3

The provider made it easy for people to share feedback and ideas, or raise complaints about their care, treatment and support. Staff involved people in decisions about their care and told them what had changed as a result.

People were given information about how to raise concerns or make a complaint in a way that suited their communication needs. People were encouraged and supported to share their views if they were unhappy about any aspect of their care or support.

There had been very few complaints. Where concerns had been raised, these were listened to, recorded, investigated, and responded to in a timely way. Relatives told us they felt comfortable raising any issues and were confident the registered manager would take their concerns seriously and act to resolve them.

Relatives told us they had positive experiences and their care kind, respectful and safe. Staff took account of people’s individual needs, including their protected characteristics as defined by the Equality Act 2010, so that people experienced equity in their care and outcomes.
