Yew Tree Medical Centre is a GP practice and delivers services from their location at 21 Berryford Road, Liverpool, L14 4ED to approximately 5260 patients under a contract held with NHS England. The National General Practice Profiles states that the demographics of the population are mainly white British with approximately 10% other, 4% of which are Asian. Information published by Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is in the 1st decile (1 of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others. This assessment considered the demographics of the people using the service, the context the service was working within and how this impacted service delivery. Where relevant, further commentary is provided in the quality statements section of this report.

We found a breach of regulation in relation to Regulation 17 Good Governance. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to any concerns found at this assessment.

People's experience of the service

Updated 4 March 2025

The provider encouraged and used feedback from people who used the service to make improvements. Feedback we reviewed showed that patient experience of the service was mixed. The results of the National GP Patient Survey were sometimes lower than local and national average scores for patient satisfaction regarding access but the practice had made improvements to their appointment and booking system because of this. Patient satisfaction was more positive once the person had received an appointment. The results showed that patients felt positive about their overall experience of the service; patients felt listened to, treated with care and concern, involved in decisions about their care and treatment, and had confidence and trust in the healthcare professionals. Recent results from the NHS Friends and Family Test, showed people were positive about their experience of the service with 100% of patients saying they would recommend the practice. They had a Patient Participation Group (PPG) that was run by the PCN.
