Inspection activity took place between 21 April to 28 April with an onsite visit on 21 April 2026. Coniston Court is a large nursing home, supporting people with nursing needs and people living with specialist needs associated with dementia. The home can offer accommodation for up to 73 people, on the day of inspection there were 63 people living there.
This service was inspected due to the age of their rating. During this inspection we identified two breaches of the legal regulations in relation to premises and equipment and governance.
The provider did not always have robust systems of governance and quality monitoring in place. Although regular audits had taken place, these had not consistently identified areas for improvement. For example, checks did not address repairs needed to equipment which had not been robustly maintained.Although there was a home improvement plan areas of the environment that required more prompt attention had not been addressed or prioritised in a timely way.
People were observed receiving person centred care and choosing how they wanted to spend their time. Staff were observed engaging well with people and knew what was important to them. Staff felt supported by the management team and enjoyed working for the service. We observed medicines being administered safely.
