The Sloane Nursing Home is a care home that provides residential accommodation with nursing care and support for up to 36 people some of whom are living with dementia, and or physical poor health. At the time of our assessment there were 34 people living at the service.
The assessment was carried out because of the length of time since our last comprehensive rating. The last rating for this service was good (published 18 June 2019). Following this assessment, the service has remained Good.
At the time of our assessment there was a home manager in post who was in the process of registering to become the registered manager for the service. We also spoke with the deputy manager and 7 staff including nursing and care staff, activities staff and kitchen staff. We used the Short Observational Framework for Inspection (SOFI). SOFI is a way of observing care to help us understand the experience of people who could not talk with us. People were protected from risk of abuse and risks to people were managed well. People were treated with dignity and respect and there were enough staff to support people to meet their needs. People had access to health and social care professionals when they needed them, and medicines were well managed. Care and treatment were delivered in line with best practice. Assessments were regularly updated to ensure they reflected people’s personal choices, cultural needs and preferences. The service was well led, and leaders were visible, approachable and engaged with people. Staff told us they felt valued and supported by managers.
