All Inspections

23 January 2013

During a routine inspection

Changes had been made to the ownership of the organisation since our previous inspection. Consequently we were unable to access some of the records we required on the day of our visit. We could not look at staff recruitment records because the new provider was reviewing the records at a different location.

We found that suitable arrangements were in place to ensure the service was managed appropriately during the transition period.

People were asked about how the clinic had gained their consent to treatment and all three described having detailed conversations with staff who went through the options. One person told us "so far the staff are great and have explained everything in detail".

People we spoke with following treatment said that they had their treatment choices explained to them, and had plenty of time to ask questions before the procedure was carried out. People commented positively on all aspects of the service, from the initial

consultation, through to the aftercare. When asked to comment on the quality of the service they had received, all three responses were positive.

During a routine inspection

We asked the manager for the contact details of six patients who had been seen at the clinic on the day of our visit. These people were then contacted by CQC some weeks later and asked if they would take part in a telephone interview about the quality of the service and aftercare they had received. Four of the six people were successfully contacted and agreed to take part; two others did not respond to the request.

When asked whether staff had been respectful towards them, all four people spoken with commented very positively on this, including one who said 'Staff explained things carefully, and spoke well....and it is a nice environment.'
