All Inspections

1 April 2011 and 10 September 2012

During a routine inspection

People that use the service told us that their privacy and dignity were protected and they were given choices to protect their human rights. One relative told us that the individuals were given daily choices and their privacy and dignity is protected by the professional caring staff. Visiting health professionals also confirmed that they had seen that people were supported and enabled to make individual choices and their individual preferences were respected. A relative told us that they had been informed about changes in the care and treatment of the individual on many occasions.

A relative told us that consent is always sought prior to treatment or an event which requires it. He is assured that he is aware that the staff do understand the reason for consent and undertake reviews as is necessary.

We saw evidence that advocacy services are used as necessary. Staff explained that the consent to care and treatment is part of the daily routine and one individual demonstrated that the staff always ask him what he wants to do.

Two people showed us their care files and person centred plan. They were aware of what was included in the plan and showed us their easy read version with pictures and diagrams. The staff told us that each individual is involved in the multidisciplinary care review and we saw evidence of this.
