During a routine inspection

Comments from people using the service were positive, which indicated that staff were kind and helpful in meeting their care needs. People were observed to be treated with respect by staff and to have their privacy and dignity respected.

People were supported in promoting their independence and community involvement. People told us they were given opportunities to express their choices and to make decisions in their daily lives. One person told us that they go out on their own in the community everyday. Another person said " I go to the pub every week for a drink".

People told us they were involved in their care and they took part in review meetings to discuss aspects of their care and support.

The provider had a system to assess the feedback provided in the satisfaction questionnaires and to take action where required to address areas where improvement had been identified.

During a routine inspection

On the day of our visit we found three staff members and a manager on duty. The were 11 people who use this service at the home. We were able to speak to all the staff and most of the people who live at this home.

People told us that they felt fully involved in all areas of their care and daily living and that they were treated with dignity and respect.

Care plans that we read showed us that care was personalised and that the provider ensured that people had a good access to all associated health and care professionals.

People who use this service told us that they felt safe at this home and staff that we spoke to were aware of safeguarding issues.

The provider had appropriate policies and procedures which were regularly reviewed.

During a routine inspection

People living at Lyncroft were generally positive about the home and its staff.

People told us that they had regular sessions with their key worker. One person told us that the manager and their key worker talked to them regularly and indicated that they were involved in decisions made about their placement. Another person told us 'I am happy here and don't want to move'.

One person, who had recently moved into the home, told us that they had the opportunity to visit the home before they moved in and went on to say that they were happy with the way staff helped them settle in.

People told us that they enjoyed the food at the home and were consulted weekly regarding the menu for the following week.

People spoken to indicated that the home takes their safety and wellbeing seriously.

People told us that they were happy with their rooms and those seen were comfortable and well furnished. Several people told us they had a television in their room, which they appreciated.

We also noted positive comments from a range of health and social care professionals from recent surveys forms undertaken by the home as part of its quality assurance system.
