Equity in experiences and outcomes
Staff and leaders actively listened to information about people who are most likely to experience inequality in experience or outcomes and tailored their care, support and treatment in response to this.
People and relatives did not report any concerns about discrimination and were supported with the development of positive relationships with peers and there was an equality and diversity policy in place to provide guidance. People living at Jah-Jireh were of Jehovah’s Witnesses faith and ensuring people’s religious needs were met was of high importance within the home.
People were provided the opportunity to share what was important to them if they chose to. The accommodation did not have any barriers to access. Surveys and meetings were used to measure people’s experiences of the care provided.
The manager was also committed to ensuring staff cultures and religious beliefs were recognised. People living at the home and relatives said their cultural needs were met. One person said, “Most definitely. There are religious meetings to view on the large TV screen and there is a Bible class. Members of the local congregation visit too.” Another person added, “This is an excellent home as it meets my religious needs.”
