Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 29 and 30 April 2025. Lingdale Lodge is a residential service providing support to older people living with dementia, mental health conditions, and physical disabilities.
There was a positive and inclusive culture within the service led by an effective management team. Leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive. A suite of audits were in place to manage and monitor the service. Managers investigated incidents thoroughly and reported them as required to the relevant agencies.
People were protected from harm and abuse and cared for safely. Enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience were deployed to meet people’s needs in a timely way and manage risk to people’s health and well-being. Staff received training, were supervised effectively and supported by the management team.
The environment and equipment met people’s needs safely. Infection prevention and control measures were effective. The service was clean, and well-maintained with plans in place to improve décor and furnishings. Medicines were managed safely.
Processes which supported people to consent to care and treatment were in place and staff understood their responsibilities to gain consent. Best interest decisions were made appropriately for people who did not have capacity to do so.
People were involved in the service and were offered a range of group and individual activities they could participate in.
The management team were open and transparent, and whilst they encouraged feedback, improvements to systems in obtaining formal feedback needed strengthening. However, everyone we spoke with raised no concerns on the quality-of-care provided.
