During a routine inspection

Before people received care and treatment they were asked for their consent and the

provider acted in accordance with their wishes. The appropriate procedure was followed where people were not able to give consent.

People who used the service had a care plan which was person centred and relevant to their individual needs. We spoke with 11 people who used the service, and four staff. One person who used the service said, "The staff are great, they support me to do what I want.' Another person said, 'The staff read my care file to me and I know what is written about me.'

People were supported to be able to eat and drink sufficient amounts to meet their needs. People we spoke with said they select the foods they wish to eat. One person said, 'We try to pick healthy foods, but it's nice to have a treat too.' Another person said, 'Sometimes we all eat different things, it depends what we feel like.'

People were cared for in a clean and hygienic environment. The staff we spoke with were knowledgeable about infect ion control. People who used the service helped to keep their accommodation clean.

We found that the provider had an effective recruitment procedure in place. Appropriate checks were undertaken before staff began work.

There was an effective complaints procedure in place and people knew how to complain if needed. People we spoke with said they never had to complain, but they felt staff would listen to them and act on any concern they had.

During a routine inspection

We spoke to three people who used the service and they told us that staff were very helpful and supportive. One person said that 'The staff are more like friends to me.' Another person said 'I trust the staff one hundred percent'.

We spoke to one relative who felt the service was very flexible.
