During a routine inspection

During our visit we spoke with the service manager, area operational manager and assistant manager of Warwickshire Supported Living. Following our visit we spoke with two representatives of people and three people to obtain their views of the service. We also spoke with four care workers.

We saw people were involved in decisions about their care and had signed a document to confirm they were happy with their plan of care.

People we spoke with told us they were happy with the care provided. We saw care plans for three people who used Warwickshire Supported Living.

The three care plans we looked at gave us a good understanding of people’s needs and abilities. The manager had identified risks to people’s health and well-being and the instructions for staff minimised the identified risks. Care plans were regularly reviewed and updated to reflect changes in people’s care and support needs.

The service had systems in place for recruitment of care staff and we saw checks had been undertaken to ensure staff were suitable to look after people safely.

We found the service was well led and had systems in place monitor the quality of service it provided.

During a routine inspection

People told us that that their care and support needs had been agreed with them when the service started. The manager told us copies of care plans were available in people's homes. People told us that the care staff respected their privacy during personal care routines.

The files we looked at contained care plans that were personalised and included people's preferences. We found that risk assessments were not always present for each person and these had not been reviewed within the timescale set by the manager. Although these were not present there was no evidence of this impacting on people's care.

People told us care staff stayed long enough to do everything they needed and that staff took their time and did not rush. People said that care staff did things in the way they preferred and respected their opinions. People told us they felt safe with the care staff.

We saw care staff had received training in how to manage specific care needs and how to keep people safe.

Records showed the agency had systems in place to monitor the care provided and for managing identified risks. People said that they were happy with the care they received. One person told us, 'I am happy with the service and staff are very caring.'
