During a routine inspection

People who used the service told us what it was like to live at this service and described how they were treated by staff and their involvement in making choices about their care.

People said that they were happy with the care and support they received and that their needs were being met in all areas. They said that the staff treated them with respect, listened to them and supported them to raise any concerns they had about their care. People told us that the service had responded to their health needs quickly and that the manager had talked to them regularly about their plan of care and any changes that may be needed.

Many comments received were complimentary of the service. One lady said 'It's lovely here' another gentleman said 'We go out for day trips in the minibus. I like it here'. Other people were complimentary of the food and had no concerns re the quality of care. Another said 'I am very happy here'.

People were provided with a choice of suitable and nutritious food and drink. People told us they were happy with the food and liked the meals.

Regular health and safety checks took place to ensure the safety of people using the service. Information about peoples' experiences had also been asked for and gathered in such a way to allow for monitoring of risks and the quality of care delivery.

During a routine inspection

People told us staff had talked to them about the care and support they needed when they first came to Elizabeth House. Most people spoken with did know about their care plan (a plan of care outlining how staff will support them), felt they had been involved in reviewing it and that they had signed it in agreement. Others did not due to the level of their mental health needs.

People told us they were able to make decisions about their care and day to day lives. Several people spoken with said they were happy with the care given and had no concerns. One person said 'very good excellent' another said when referring to staff 'They are looking after us well here, staff are very nice'. Another person spoken with discussed the recent Christmas party held by the service which was well attended.

They said that the staff treated them with respect, listened to them and supported them to raise any concerns they had about their care. People that staff talked to them regularly about their plan of care and any changes that may be needed.
