Our view of the service
Date of assessment 8 January to 15 January 2026. Strode Park House is a residential service providing personal and nursing care to adults with physical disabilities. The provider was previously in breach of legal regulations around safe care and treatment, safe and effective staffing, the need for consent and good governance. Improvements were found at this assessment, and the provider was no longer in breach of the regulations. This home has been in Special Measures since 7 July 2025. The provider demonstrated improvements that have been made. The home is no longer rated as inadequate overall or in any of the key questions. The provider implemented and followed an action plan that strengthened oversight, improved safety and effectiveness of care, and ensured compliance with regulatory requirements. Therefore, this home is no longer in Special Measures. There were systems of audit to monitor and analyse safeguarding incidents. We saw these were recorded and raised appropriately. Staff understood and supported people to manage risks safety. The environment in some areas needed some repair. However, plans to do this were underway and a timescale was being worked towards, with funding for the repairs being secured. People received their medicines safely and as prescribed. There were processes in place to record and report medicine errors. 'Right support, right care, right culture' is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it. The home followed these principles.
People’s care was personalised and person-centred. Staff had a good understanding of their roles, responsibilities and understood their accountability.
There was clear evidence of ongoing learning and evidence of further training being organised with outside agencies. Staff felt supported by the management and felt the management team were approachable. Staff told us, "I can raise anything, I am listened to and the team listen to me." Community health care professionals told us how communication with the home had improved and the home worked with them to provide safe and effective care. The management team were knowledgeable and demonstrated clear passion for the staff, the home and the people living there.

People and their relatives were positive about the care and support they received. They felt involved with their care and support planning. People and relatives told us staff were kind and treated them with respect. Comments included, "Our views are always considered and respected." and "Care here is outstanding”. A relative added, "I can’t fault the care.” People and relatives told us there was good communication with the home and they received the right care and support. Relatives told us, "There is good care. I was really reassured with how they responded when he was unwell in hospital and now is back.” and "They’re very responsive as I email the registered manager who sends a message to the lead carers, and I always get a response the same day, if not immediately. If needed, we have meetings and they say, ‘let’s talk about it’ so it’s all good." Another relative told us, "I have seen improvements like documentation since many months ago they’ve improved. They’re recording things properly so it’s not an issue as they refer to records if I ask anything, so I feel satisfied."
