During a routine inspection

During our inspection we spoke with three people, four members of staff and the manager. We looked at six people's care records.

We found that people were supported to make day to day decisions about the care they received. People's independence was promoted. One person told us, 'I do cleaning'.

The care people received was reflected in their care plans. People's health needs were supported. One person said, 'Staff make appointments for me for the doctors and dentist'.

We found that there were enough staff to support people's needs. Staff had not received updated training in important areas of care.

The service had an accessible complaints procedure. Staff were clear about their role in supporting people to make complaints.

The service carried out a number of audits to ensure people's safety and quality of service.

During our inspection we spoke with three people, two members of staff and the manager. We looked at three people's care records.

We found that people were supported in making day to day decisions about the care they received. People's values and diversity were respected and promoted. One person said staff, 'Do listen to me'.

The care people received was reflected in their care plans, although there were some gaps in health records. One person said the standard of care was, 'fine'.

Arrangements were in place to ensure people were protected from harm. People said they felt safe using the service. Staff had not received recent training in safeguarding people.

We found that staff were recruited in a safe way and correct checks were carried out to ensure their suitability to care for people.

The service had a clear complaints procedure. Not all people had been given accessible complaints guidance in order to assist them with making complaints when necessary.
