During a routine inspection

People were cared for by staff who were supported to deliver care and treatment safely and to an appropriate standard. We saw that staff received relevant training so they could meet the needs of the people in this home. Staff demonstrated enthusiasm. They showed that they were skilled in communicating with the people in the home and knew their individual needs and preferences well.

People who use the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening. People looked happy and relaxed in the company of the staff. Relatives told us they had no concerns about safety. One said, "They are happy...it is homely and more like a family".

People were protected against the risks associated with medicines because the provider had appropriate arrangements in place to manage medicines. Staff were trained to administer medication and they had completed records appropriately.

People were protected from the risks of inadequate nutrition and dehydration. There was a good choice of food and staff helped people to eat in a healthy way. One person told us that food was, "very good". Another was clearly enjoying his meal.

There were good arrangements for monitoring the quality of care and making sure that the standards were maintained and improved on. These included asking people who lived in the home and their representatives for their views in how the home was run.

During a routine inspection

We visited the home and met four of the people who lived there. They were not able to speak in detail about their experiences. However, they indicated that they were happy and pleased with their care. One said, 'I like it here'.

We spoke with relatives of people who lived in the home. They told us that the staff were competent and provided a good standard of care. They said that the home was always clean and in a good state of repair.

People told us;

'He absolutely loves it there'..it's comfortable and relaxed'.

'We're always made welcome'.

'I think he must be happy as he is always pleased to go back'.

'His room is lovely'.

'The staff are very patient'.
