Date of assessment – 24 June – 6 July 2026.
The Emmie Dixon Home is an independent care home for adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and dementia. At the time of our assessment, there were 11 people living at the home. We carried out an unannounced site visit 24 June 2026 and a further announced visit 29 June 2026. A review of the records and information was carried out offsite.
The assessment was prompted due to an aged rating. We carried out a comprehensive assessment and reviewed 33 quality statements covering the five key areas: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities most people take for granted. We found the provider met the requirements of the guidance, providing people with choice in their everyday lives and respectful, dignified care tailored to individual needs.
We spoke with people who use the service, staff, relatives, and health and social care professionals involved in people's care.
At our last assessment we rated this service good. At this assessment, the service has remained good.
The home had a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and staff were kind, caring, and approachable. People were encouraged to personalise their bedrooms, helping them feel comfortable and at home. People were supported to access their local community and participate in activities that were important to them. The provider regularly sought feedback from people and their relatives and used this information to develop action plans and make improvements where needed.
Care and support plans contained information about people’s interests, their hobbies and preferences. People were supported by staff who knew them well. We found staff had the skills and training needed to carry out their roles effectively. Staff told us they enjoyed working at the home and spoke positively about the support they received from their colleagues and the registered manager.
The provider had robust governance systems in place to effectively monitor performance, manage risks and ensure regulatory compliance. There was evidence of effective partnership working with healthcare providers, ensuring people had access to the services they needed.
