Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 20 October 2025 to 22 October 2025 This service is a care home providing care and accommodation to adults of all ages, some of whom are living with dementia. At the time of the inspection 7 older people were living at the home.

This inspection was completed because we had not inspected this service since 06 January 2020. This inspection covered all 5 key questions of safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

During this inspection we spoke with people who lived at the home, their relatives, staff, a district nurse, the care manager, the provider and the joint owner.

The provider took a joined-up approach to safety and risk management, supported smooth service transitions and ensured staff were safely recruited. Checks were in place to ensure the environment was safe for people, and staff knew how to reduce the spread of infection. Staff received training on medication administration. However, medicines auditing process needed to be improved.

Staff had the information needed to care for people safely and used recognised tools to identify risks associated with people’s care and support needs. Staff worked well together and with other professionals and escalated health concerns appropriately.

Staff treated people as individuals, respected their rights to make choices and encouraged their independence. People were supported by a consistent staff team who knew them well. People were supported to engage in meaningful, activities they enjoyed.

The provider ensured people and relatives knew how to raise concerns or complaints and encouraged them to share their feedback.

The provider created an atmosphere where the focus was on good care and ensured staff knew the importance of speaking up when something wasn’t right. The provider collaborated with other organisations and staff sought to deepen their knowledge of current best practices.

The provider valued their staff team promoted staff’s wellbeing.

The provider needed to strengthen their oversight and quality monitoring processes needed to be more consistent.

People's experience of this service

People and relatives were positive about the quality of care and support provided. One relative told us “When people say, ‘care home’ the important word is ‘care’. It makes me fill up with tears because the care here for every resident is so good.”

People told us staff were kind, treated them with dignity, and responded to their immediate needs. One person told us “The [staff] are wonderful. When I need them, they are there.”

People felt safe. People received their care and support from staff who were respectful of their choices, encouraged their independence and with whom they had developed meaningful relationships. Relatives were involved in planning and reviewing their family member’s care and were actively encouraged to take part in day-to-day activities.

Relatives were confident their family members received their prescribed medicines. Relatives were complimentary about the way the management and staff team worked with other healthcare professionals to improve outcomes for people and support them to live healthier lives.
