All Inspections

16 January 2014

During a routine inspection

We spoke with seven people during the inspection who lived at Stepping Stones, four members of staff including the registered manager and reviewed three people's care files.

People told us that their privacy and dignity were respected and they felt involved in the running of Stepping Stone's. People told us they were able to choose the activities they participated in and that their independence was encouraged.

We found there was a process to assess people's needs and care plans and risk assessments in place which reflected those needs.

People received a healthy, balanced diet and people with nutritional needs were catered for and supported.

The home was clean and there were processes in place to minimise the risk of infection at Stepping Stones.

Stepping Stones had a complaint's policy and process and people's concerns were listened to and acted upon.

7 March 2013

During a routine inspection

People were given all the information they needed to make an informed decision about their care and were asked to sign their consent to such care. We saw no care was undertaken until full consent was given and the benefits and risks of treatment were explained.

People were cared for effectively and they were protected from the risk of abuse. There were good financial accounting systems in place to protect people from abuse. Staff were given regular training and were given a professional appraisal of their work.

The provider had effective monitoring systems in place together with an effective complaints system. Complaints were taken seriously and responded to appropriately.

People who used the service were positive about the care and support provided. Comments included 'The staff are kind to me' and 'Every day the staff try to please me'.
