Date of assessment: 1 May 2025 to 19 May 2025. This assessment was carried out due to the age of the rating for the service. The service is a residential home providing accommodation and personal care to older people, and adults of all ages, some of whom are living with dementia. Risks to people’s health were not always managed effectively, and where people were subject to restrictions the provider had not sought the legal authorisation to do this. There were not always sufficient numbers of staff to meet people’s preferences. Audits carried out by the provider were not always effective in identifying concerns or areas for improvement. People’s care was delivered based on their assessed needs. Staff had been safely recruited and were kind and caring when providing support. People were asked for their consent before care was provided and staff worked in partnership with local healthcare professionals to meet people’s needs. Staff treated people as individuals and encouraged people to make their own choices and maintain their independence. People’s diverse needs were considered as part of their assessment and staff were sensitive to people’s individual cultural and religious needs and preferences. There were systems in place to support people to raise concerns about their care. People were supported to develop plans for the future and end of life care was delivered sensitively and with dignity. Staff felt supported in their roles and felt able to speak up if they were concerned about aspects of people’s care or safety.
