All Inspections

31 October and 1 November 2013

During a routine inspection

On the day of our inspection there were 24 people living at Pinebeach Nursing Home. We spoke with seven of the people who lived there, two relatives, the owner of the home, the manager and five care workers. Everyone we spoke with had positive comments concerning Pinebeach Nursing Home. One relative we spoke with told us, "I'm absolutely delighted with the care and service my (relative) gets. I have never had a reason to complain, I think the staff are fantastic and know my (relative) really well, they do everything they can for them".

People experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights.

People were protected against the risks associated with medicines because the provider had appropriate arrangements in place to manage medicines.

People were cared for by staff who were supported to deliver care and treatment safely and to an appropriate standard.

The provider had an effective system in place to identify, assess and manage risks to the health, safety and welfare of people using the service and others.

10 October 2012

During a routine inspection

At this inspection we spoke with the manager, three members of staff, six people who lived in the home and three of their visiting relatives and friends.

One person we spoke with who lived in the home said 'I love living here, the staff are smashing, I have a lovely room and I am looked after really well'

Another person we spoke with who lived in the home told 'the care is first class here, I am very lucky to live here'.

We found that care plans accurately reflected people's needs and had been drawn up with their involvement and written in a person centred way.

We observed that people who lived in the home were consulted and involved in their own care.

People were supported by staff that had been recruited in a safe manner and people we spoke with said there was always enough staff available to make sure they received the care they needed.

People we spoke with told us they were treated with dignity and respect by a staff team that knew them well and fully understood their individual needs.

The home had undergone considerable refurbishment over the last two years with major improvements being made with respect to specialist care equipment and general furnishings.
