During a routine inspection

We saw that people who use the service and organisations contracted with had made positive comments about the service in the quality questionnaires that the agency sent them. We did not speak directly to them. This was because at the time of our visit there were no people receiving a service in their own homes from agency staff. Feedback was requested from all the people who received a service at home. They, or their families, were also telephoned by the agency management team to ensure that the service was meeting their needs.

There were systems in place to ensure that suitable staff were recruited. Staff received training and information at induction prior to employment and annually that enabled them to meet the needs of people. This included an understanding of consent and infection control. Staff in hospital placements were required to follow the hospital policies, procedures and protocols. When working in people's homes, staff carried out risk assessments and care was planned so that people's needs were met.

There were complaint systems in place. Management staff reviewed comments and complaints both from individuals and from the hospitals where staff were placed. We saw that required actions following complaints had been undertaken.

People who use the service and organisations contracted with made positive comments about the service in the quality questionnaires that the agency sent them. We did not speak directly to them.

They told us they felt respected, safe and were involved in daily decision-making about the care they received. They said agency nurses and the office staff were approachable, listened to their views, acted on them and treated them with respect.

They also commented that the agency were in frequent and regular contact, visited them, asked them what they needed and they felt they were getting the service they wanted. They said it was regularly reviewed, updated and delivered on time by professional and competent nurses who provided a good quality of service.
