Effective

Requires improvement

23 July 2026

Effective – this means we looked for evidence that people’s care, treatment and support achieved good outcomes and promoted a good quality of life, based on best available evidence. At our last inspection we rated this key question requires improvement. At this inspection the rating has remained the same due to our inspection activity only looking at specific quality statements. This meant the effectiveness of people’s care, treatment and support did not always achieve good outcomes or was inconsistent.

This service scored 58 (out of 100) for this area. Find out what we look at when we assess this area and How we calculate these scores.

Assessing needs

Score: 2

The provider did not always make sure people’s care and treatment were effective because they did not always check and discuss people’s health, care, wellbeing and communication needs with them.

At our last assessment, we found care records were not always accurate. During this assessment, we found improvements were still needed to ensure records fully reflected people's needs and risks. Care records did not always contain care plans and risk assessments relating to people's health conditions. This meant staff did not always have access to clear, up-to-date information about how to support people safely and consistently, and there was a risk that important health needs may not be identified or appropriately managed.

However, we found improvements in the way people's dietary requirements were communicated. Information about people's nutritional needs, preferences and dietary risks had been updated within care records and was also available in the kitchen. This helped to ensure staff had access to accurate information and supported people to receive food and drink that met their assessed needs and preferences.

Monitoring and improving outcomes

Score: 2

The provider did not always routinely monitor people’s care and treatment to continuously improve it. They did not always ensure that outcomes were positive andconsistent, or that they met both clinical expectations and the expectations of people themselves.

At our last assessment, we found consistent gaps in daily records for people who required staff intervention to support their health needs. During this assessment, records continued to show gaps in daily recordings. This meant the provider could not always be assured that people had received the support they required or that staff had consistently monitored and responded to changes in their health and wellbeing. Incomplete records also limited the provider's ability to effectively monitor the quality and safety of care and identify areas where improvements were needed. However, we found improvements in the systems used to hand over and share information between shifts.

We did not look at Consent to care and treatment during this assessment. The score for this quality statement is based on the previous rating for Effective.
