Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 4 December 2025

Date of assessment 18 December 2025 to 15 January 2026.

Park View Nursing home is a service located in the village of Blunsdon on the outskirts of Swindon. The home can accommodate up to 41 people for adults over the age of 18 who require personal or nursing care. At the time of the assessment 38 people were living in the service.

The assessment was carried out due to concerns we received from staff about their safety in relation to one person living in the service. The provider gave us a response to the concerns prior to our assessment and had put additional measures in place. During the assessment we did not find any evidence that staff were not safe in the service and staff we spoke with confirmed this.

We found lessons were learnt to identify and embed good practice. People were safe and protected from avoidable harm. Staff and leaders knew people well and there was support from external partners to ensure people’s needs were met. People’s needs were assessed when they moved into the service and there was continuity of care when people moved between different services. Medicines was managed safely and effectively.

Staff treated people with kindness and compassion and promoted independence, choice and control. People were supported to achieve outcomes which were important to them and were supported to live healthier lives through the provision of activities taking place. People were supported to put plans for the future and end-of-life plans in place.

Staff felt supported in their roles and told us about the initiatives to support their wellbeing and how they felt valued by the provider.

There was a clear shared vision, strategy and culture with leaders being effective in their roles and learning, improvement and innovation taking place. The environment was safe and all required health and safety checks were up to date.

However, we saw a lack of evidence-based information in some people’s care plans and risk assessments in relation to managing conditions such as diabetes and epilepsy. Staff had also not received any specific training in relation to these conditions. The provider took steps to rectify these concerns during the assessment.
