Responding to people’s immediate needs
The provider did not listen to or understand people’s needs, views and wishes. Staff did not always respond to people’s needs in the moment or act to minimise any discomfort, concern or distress. One person told us, “I am incontinent as the staff don’t come when I need to go to the toilet.”
People’s care plans did not reflect their current needs; we found contradicting information and lack of detailed risk assessments.
People told us the staff were good and looked after them well. However, the lack of detailed care plans and risk assessments and use of agency staff put people at risk of harm.
There was lack of effective systems in place to ensure staff had the skills, knowledge and support to meet people’s needs. This was being developed at the time of our visit; however, this had been identified previously so had not been embedded into practice or sustained by the provider.
Workforce wellbeing and enablement
We did not look at Workforce wellbeing and enablement during this assessment. The score for this quality statement is based on the previous rating for Caring.
