All Inspections

29 October 2013

During a routine inspection

This is a large, well furnished and maintained home.

The home has accommodation over two floors and is divided into two suites for six people, this makes it feel more like a small home. We observed care to be personalised and communication between staff members and the people who live in the home was respectful and appropriate to their individual abilities.

During the inspection we spoke to two support staff and two people who lived in the home in addition to the manager and deputy manager.

We were told by the people living in the home that the home was "nice and friendly" and that they felt "safe and looked after", while staff told us that "this is a lovely place to work" and "the place is great".

There was an extensive range of activities on offer to the people who lived in the home and the uptake of these activities was driven by the people.

During a routine inspection

Most of the people we spent time with were unable to communicate verbally and, as we were not familiar with everyone's way of communicating we were unable to gain their views. However we spoke with one person and they told us they liked living at Hampton House. They told us staff were friendly and helped them participate in a range of social and leisure activities in the community.

A relative told us, 'People seem happy in the home and everything is lovely and clean.'

We spent a significant proportion of our time observing staff interaction with people using the service and saw that staff were supportive and friendly.

20 June 2011

During a routine inspection

We spoke to one person who lives at Hampton House, and she confirmed that she liked her bedroom and had everything she needed. We were unable to get other peoples views verbally due to the nature of their disabilities. We therefore spent time observing care practice and peoples responses and interactions. What we found is included in the relevant sections of this report.
