All Inspections

27 June 2013

During a routine inspection

We spoke with six people who lived at The Lindens and most were positive about their experience. One person told us, "We're well looked after here. It's got all the facilities and the food is good. I'm quite happy here". This person also told us that they like to read books but they did not know if there were any books available. Another person told us, "It's wonderful living here, but it is a bit boring sometimes!". One person told us, "I can't fault the place, it's beautifully clean and I can always talk to the staff".

During our inspection we looked at how people were treated and what involvement they had in their care planning, how medication was handled, what checks were made on staff before they commenced employment, what levels of staffing were on duty, and how the provider handled complaints. We did not identify any areas of grave concern.

During an inspection in response to concerns

We spoke with ten people who lived at The Lindens and they were all positive about the standard of care they received and the good nature of the staff. We found that people chose when they wanted to got bed. We saw that some people had decided to go to bed early and some had decided to stay up later. We spoke with people in the communal areas, and people who were in their bedrooms and they told us that they had made the decision about where to spend their evening.

12 March 2013

During a routine inspection

We spoke with seven people who used the service and two relatives of people who used the service. Each person praised the standard of care that had been received although people told us they would like more activities to be available. One person who used the service told us The Lindens had a lovely atmosphere and it felt 'like a home from home'. They told us the staff were kind and they felt that the staff were 'like being with a relative'. Another person told us they were happy there and another person told us there was plenty of very good food.

During our inspection we found concerns that care plans had not been reviewed in line with the provider's guidelines, medication reviews had not been recorded and the complaints procedure was inconsistent.

29 July 2011

During a routine inspection

People told us that they liked the staff, felt they met their needs well and the care provided was good. They said there was generally enough staff available to help and assist them, both in the day time and during the night.

They said they were involved in the reviews of their care and their wishes were taken into account.

People told us they and/or their families had the opportunity to visit the home, meet the staff and residents and view the facilities before moving into the home

People told us that they had no concerns but if they did they would either tell their relatives or the manager of the home. They said they felt safe and well looked after.
