Well-led
Well-led – this means we looked for evidence that service leadership, management and governance assured high-quality, person-centred care; supported learning and innovation; and promoted an open, fair culture. At our last assessment we rated this key question requires improvement. At this assessment the rating has changed to good. This meant the service was consistently managed and well-led. Leaders and the culture they created promoted high-quality, person-centred care.
At the last inspection, we found good governance was not always effective. At this inspection we found improvements had been made and the provider was no longer in breach of regulations. Now checks and systems were consistently completed and shortfalls identified. Notifications were submitted to other agencies as necessary. A current improvement plan helped the management team ensure actions were taken to make changes or improvements where necessary. The registered manager was now only responsible for overseeing one service.

Governance, management and sustainability
The provider had clear responsibilities, roles, systems of accountability and good governance. They used these to manage and deliver good quality, sustainable care, treatment and support. They acted on the best information about risk, performance and outcomes, and shared this securely with others when appropriate.
Since our last inspection, improvements had been made to governance and the systems in place at Chase Lodge. Electronic records and data management systems were robust and effectively used. Checks and audits were consistently completed, and these identified shortfalls. An improvement plan was in place and regularly reviewed, and action was taken to make changes or improvements where necessary. This helped the provider to consistently monitor and deliver good quality support to people.
The provider told us they had learned lessons and made changes to ensure notifications were consistently submitted to CQC as required. We had received relevant data and information about events and incidents at the service.
Since the last inspection, the registered manager had cancelled their registration at a second service to ensure they could focus solely on the management of Chase Lodge.
