Updated 1 May 2026
This assessment took place between 13 May and 26 May 2026 and included site visits on 13, 14 and 26 May 2026. Country view nursing home is a care home (with nursing) providing accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care, caring for adults over 65 yrs and physical disabilities. The service can accommodate up to 30 people. At the time of the assessment, 27 people were living at the service.
This was a fully comprehensive assessment carried out due to the length of time since we last rated the service. We spoke with people using the service, their relatives, staff, and reviewed care records, policies, audits, and other documentation. We also observed care and used structured observation to understand the experiences of people who could not always communicate verbally.
The service demonstrated a number of strengths. Staff knew people well and provided care in a kind, compassionate and respectful manner. People were supported to maintain their independence, take part in meaningful activities, and access healthcare services when needed. Staff worked effectively with healthcare professionals to support people's health and wellbeing, and there was evidence of positive partnership working with external agencies. There was a caring and inclusive culture within the home. Staff worked well together and demonstrated a commitment to supporting people in a person-centred way. Leaders were open and responsive throughout the assessment and engaged positively with feedback.
However, we identified concerns relating to medicines management, care planning, risk management, record keeping and governance. Care records were not always accurate, sufficiently detailed, or updated to reflect people's current needs. We found inconsistencies within records and examples where assessments and care plans did not provide staff with clear guidance to support people safely and consistently.
Although governance systems and audits were in place, they had not identified all the concerns found during the assessment. Therefore, we were not confident that quality assurance processes were effective in identifying risks, monitoring performance and driving improvement. Some concerns identified during this assessment had also been highlighted previously by external professionals but had not been fully addressed or embedded into practice.
We identified a breach of Regulation 17 (Good Governance). As a result of the concerns identified during this assessment, the service has been rated Requires Improvement overall. We have asked the provider to submit an action plan in response to the concerns identified during this assessment.
