During a routine inspection

We met and spoke in private with three people in residence, as well as meeting and speaking with four relatives who were visiting other people in 'Park House'. All the people we spoke with were complimentary about the standard of care provided by the staff team. The three people we spoke with in private all said they were treated well and liked the staff. They all said they received the help and support they needed. They said there was always something of interest going on and that they could choose to join in if they wanted to. They confirmed they were treated with respect, that they felt safe, and that they were encouraged by staff to do as much for themselves as their capabilities allowed. We found that people's privacy, dignity and independence was respected

Comments from visitors included, 'We are always welcome and we come and go as we please so we get to see how things are done. We have always been very pleased with what we have seen. The staff are always friendly and seem very kind.'

We found the home to be clean, comfortable, and free from odour throughout. We saw that people had been able to personalise their own rooms.

We found that 'Park House' was appropriately staffed and effectively managed. We saw that the staff went about their duties purposefully and conscientiously. We found that people's needs had been assessed and care plans to meet their needs were in place for staff to act upon so that people received appropriate, safe care.

During a routine inspection

The people we spoke with told us they were pleased with the care and the support they received. They told us they were able make choices about their food, routines and how to spend their time. They told us that there were activities going on in the home that they could join in with if they wanted to.

We saw the staff had the right skills and knowledge to care for people who used the service; we saw that staff treated people with dignity and respect. For example staff called people by their preferred names, gave people opportunities to make their own decisions and respected people's wishes.

The people we spoke with told us they were well cared for at Park House. They told us they could speak to the manager or staff at any time if they had any concerns about their welfare or safety.
