Hartlands Residential Home is a care home that provides personal care for up to 31 people, some of whom are living with dementia. At the time of the inspection 28 people lived at the service.

We found the following examples of good practice.

Visitors were screened for symptoms of Covid-19 before entering the home. Visits had recommenced following the changes in guidelines to enable people to see their loved ones.

The registered manager had implemented a coronavirus risk assessment for people and staff to ensure people who were deemed high risk had measures in place to stay safe.

The registered manager had an admissions policy in place which they followed to ensure people were admitted to the service safely during the pandemic.

The home environment was clean. Domestic staff had designated areas they cleaned throughout their shift. The registered manager completed a range of audits and competencies around infection prevention control which included, a daily COVID-19 checklist and observations around staff wearing PPE.

Staff and people had access to COVID19 testing. All visitors would be tested in line with government guidance.
