During a routine inspection
A relative commented, "My mother originally went from hospital to a care home but she did not like it there. I attended the assessment of my mothers care with social services and other members of the care team and discussed an alternative solution such as being cared for in her own home, and that’s where she is now.”
The manager told us that care was coordinated between health and social care professionals as part of the ongoing review of the persons needs. We saw evidence of other healthcare professional’s intervention such as; occupational therapy, social services, district nursing and mental health practitioners.
Staff told us that they had completed a comprehensive induction as part of their initial employment and were positive about the overall induction process. Staff commented, “The induction process was a positive experience and we found such things as the shadowing and completing the workbook, the ‘Skills for Care Handbook’, to be most helpful.”
We saw evidence of care worker meetings and community home support meetings which confirmed that staff had the opportunity to discuss any issues as they arose and any concerns or improvements to the service were recorded and acted upon.
