During an inspection looking at part of the service

We visited the service in January 2011 and left one improvement action in relation to storage of information. We carried out this visit to ensure the service had complied with this action. We reviewed how people were being supported in the home since our last visit and people told us they were pleased with the support provided and how the home was managed.

During our previous visit we reported that people were dressed in their own style and if they need support, staff help individuals to apply make-up or to have a manicure; people were encouraged to continue to take a pride in their appearance. Staff provide any personal care where required and people in the home are well-presented.

Comments from people who use the service about the standards of care and support and their experiences included:

'We have a laugh here, people are very socialable, and you can always join in .'

"I feel safe here, and I have no complaints.'

'You always get an opportunity to voice opinions.'

'The staff here are very good, if I had a problem I'd just tell them and they'd sort it out.'

'The staff are always there for you, they can never do enough.'

'They are always there if you need them, if you call them, they always come to you.'

'They know what they're doing here.'

'The staff always ask me what I want, they're very good here.'

"I can count on the staff to make things right, but I've got no worries.'

During a routine inspection

People who use the service told us that they were happy with the care support in the home and staff treated them with respect. The staff team were always available and responded promptly to any areas of concern or changes to the support they required. Staff listened to people and spent time with them, talking and carrying out activities, as well as providing care.

People were dressed in their own style and if they need support, staff help individuals to apply make-up or to have a manicure; people were encouraged to continue to take a pride in their appearance. Staff provide any personal care where required and people in the home are well-presented.

A range of daily activities was available and people who use the service were able to voice their opinions and change daily events carried out in the home. People enjoyed the meals that were served and were able to influence the menu.

The home was clean and tidy and people could personalise their rooms and bring in small items of furniture and personal possessions.
