Requires improvement

Updated 9 October 2024

Date of assessment: 27 May 2025 – 27 June 2025.

Grovelands Lodge is a residential care home providing accommodation with personal care for up to 4 people. There were 2 people living at Grovelands Lodge at the time of our assessment. We reviewed 1 person’s care records during our on-site assessment. The service provides care to older and younger people with mental health needs. This was a responsive assessment.

The provider was previously in breach of the legal regulations in relation to safe care and treatment, and good governance. The provider was required to send us an action plan telling us how they would improve and by when.We undertook this assessment to check they had followed their action plan and to confirm they now met legal requirements. At this assessment, we found the provider was in continued breach of safe care and treatment and good governance. In addition, we found one new breach of the legal regulations in relation to fit and proper persons employed. The provider’s systems and processes were not always effective in assessing, monitoring and improving the quality of the service. People’s care was not always personalised to reflect their individual needs and preferences. Governance systems and audits were not effective in identifying and addressing concerns.

However, staff were caring and promoted people’s privacy and dignity. Staff felt supported and spoke positively about management.

We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.

People's experience of the service

Updated 9 October 2024

Not all people could speak with us in detail about their experiences. Only one person was receiving a regulated activity of personal care. We observed good relationships between people and staff. People had received support from external professionals. During our visit we saw people supported by staff who knew them well and treated them with respect; staff were attentive to people’s needs. Relatives were positive about the service. One relative told us, “The staff are welcoming here.”
