Updated 8 October 2025
We carried out this assessment between 14 October to 14 November 2025. Widecombe Nursing Home is a care home providing accommodation and personal care. At the time of inspection there were 28 people receiving care. The service supports people living with dementia, people with nursing needs and people with a physical disability.
At our last inspection the provider was in breach of legal regulations in relation to safe care and treatment, person-centred care and good governance. At this inspection we found although improvements had been made, the provider was still in breach of the legal regulations related to safe care and good governance. The provider was no longer in breach of the legal regulation in relation to person-centred care.
During our inspection we found audit and quality assurance processes to assess, monitor and drive improvement did not identify concerns we found. The environment was not always safe, and medicines were not always managed safely.
Widecombe Nursing home had a caring staff team with the right skills and knowledge to support people effectively. Staff told us they felt supported by the management team.
People’s needs had been assessed and were regularly reviewed. The provider worked in partnership with other organisations including health, community and faith groups to meet people’s needs.
