Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 3 March 2026

Date of Assessment: 13 April to 11 May 2026. We visited the service due to the length of time since our last inspection. The service is a residential care home supporting older people, including people living with dementia.

The service had a warm and inviting feel, with comfortable surroundings that supported people’s wellbeing. We found some lighting needed to be improved in places and this was addressed immediately. Mealtimes were relaxed and well-coordinated, reflecting a person‑centred approach. Activities ran throughout our visit.

Staff met people’s needs effectively, offering support with extreme patience and kindness. End of life care was exceptional. People were extremely well supported to remain maintain healthy lives.

Medicines were managed safely and in an organised manner. There were enough staff and call bells were responded to within suitable timeframes. The service was clean and tidy. Some flooring required upgrading; this was addressed promptly by the provider, who confirmed replacements had been completed by the end of the assessment, with further enhancements planned. Care plans were regularly reviewed to strengthen the quality and detail of information. There had been no impact on people, but a small number of records reviewed required further update, including updating bed settings. The management team were going to address this.

There were quality assurance checks in the service, and it was led by managers who understood people’s needs and promoted an open culture. Concerns could be raised and were addressed. Staff were safely recruited and trained and supported with their wellbeing.

People's experience of the service

Updated 3 March 2026

People said they felt safe at the service and care was provided by kind and thoughtful staff. One person said, “I have always felt safe here. I don’t have worries about anything really.” Comments were made by people and their relatives on improved independence for some, with others explaining how staff supported their changing needs well.We were told there was good involvement with families regarding people’s care and consent was confirmed before interactions took place.

Dignity was maintained discreetly. One relative said, “They are a very private person, and they manage that very well.” People had the opportunity to share their views at resident meetings and surveys were completed. Relatives expressed confidence in the registered manager and the staff team. It was thought the management team were responsive to them and supportive of their staff. We did receive two comments which indicated the registered manager was not as visible within the service as they thought they should have been. However, this was not our findings during the assessment.

Communication was thought to be affected by a language barrier at times, according to 2 people. However, all the staff we spoke with communicated well. The registered manager was aware of these comments and was working with staff to ensure this was not an issue.

A Short Observational Framework for Inspection (SOFI) was undertaken to observe people’s experiences and interactions with staff during the visit.
