Date of assessment: 26 May to 2 June 2026.
Portelet Lodge Care Home is a care home registered to provide care and support for up to 23 older people. There were 22 people living at the provider during our inspection.
This inspection was prompted by concerns we received about the safety of care provision. We found 3 breaches of regulation in relation to person-centred care, safe care and treatment and good governance.
There was not enough staff to provide all people with activities and meet their emotional needs. People’s health was not always monitored and risks to their health were not always assessed. This put them at increased risk of harm. The provider’s checks and audits were not always used effectively. This placed people at increased risk of receiving poor quality and unsafe care.
We asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this inspection.
We observed staff treating people with dignity, kindness and respect. Staff felt supported and told us they liked their work. Staff referred people to health and social care professionals in a timely manner.
The manager of the provider deregistered with CQC whilst the inspection was ongoing. The provider put suitable arrangements in place to manage the provider.
