Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 29 February 2024

This assessment took place from 11 April 2024 to 13 June 2024. This assessment was planned in response to concerns raised about the management of risk and standards of governance at the service. We did not identify any breaches of regulation during this inspection and the service remains rated Good. Incidents and accidents were reported, and appropriate actions were taken. Safeguarding concerns were raised as required. Staff knew how to identify and raise concerns. When things went wrong lessons were learnt. Staff knew how to support people with their health conditions. Medicines were administered as prescribed and managed safely. There was enough staff to support people to remain safe. Although, the registered manager and people agreed there could be more staff to support people to engage in more meaningful activities. Staff had the skills and knowledge they needed to provide people with safe care. Staff were well supported and there was oversight of staff practice. Staff knew how to support people and care plans provided them with the guidance they needed, although there were some minor improvements needed to some areas of care plans. Staff were kind and caring and treated people with respect. The registered manager had the skills and experience needed to manage the service. There was an effective system of governance in place to identify where improvements were needed and monitor that actions were taken. There were regular meetings for staff to keep staff up to date and share information. The service worked in partnership with health and social care professionals to support people in a joined-up way and provide good outcomes for people. Staff had undertaken equality and diversity training and told us diversity was valued at the service.

People's experience of the service

Updated 29 February 2024

People were happy with the support they received from staff. One person told us how they loved their room and the activities. Another person said, “It's good here”. One person communicated using gestures and told us they were happy with the support they were receiving. People got on well with the staff who worked at the service and were positive about them. When asked what they wanted to improve feedback was more mixed. One person said, “I would like to go out more”. Staff and the registered manager agreed with this and were seeking to make changes to how people were supported.
