During a routine inspection

We visited two shared tenancies and spoke with four people who received a service there. We also spoke with staff and visited the provider's offices in Newcastle.

We found there were arrangements in place for involving people in planning their care. We saw people were treated with dignity and respect. People confirmed they were treated well. We saw staff promote people's involvement and independence. The care plans we saw had been signed by people to show they were aware of, and had agreed to, their content. One person told us, 'I've got the support I need.' Another person said , 'I have my own key; I can lock the door.'

People received the care and support they needed and said they were happy with this. People said they were supported to remain active. For example, one person told us, 'I'm going bowling, then I'll do my weekly shop. I'm going to Durham and have been to York.'

We saw staff were polite, courteous and appropriately qualified. People made positive comments about the staff, and the comments we heard about them included, 'Everybody is nice to me;.' Another person told us, 'They're working so hard for me.' Staff told us, and records confirmed, they were well trained and supported.

We were told by people they were aware there were confidential records kept about them. They were also aware they could access these when they wanted. We found records were securely stored so people's personal information was protected.
