During a routine inspection

We saw that people were relaxed and comfortable at Street Farm. People who used the service told us that they liked living at Street Farm and that the staff were nice to them.

We looked at two care plans which were detailed and made references to the risk assessments in place which were agreed with people to keep them safe. Care plans contained guidelines for staff to follow when certain events arose, and we saw incident forms where staff learnt from triggers to people living at Street Farm.

We found that measures were in place to ensure that people living at Street Farm were care for appropriately, and risk assessed. We saw that staff had a detailed understanding of the diagnoses and management of the conditions people had. This meant that people at Street Farm are cared for by staff in a safe and effective way.

During a routine inspection

People who lived in the home were able to explain to us that staff provided the care and support they needed. They participated in all aspects of home life. They told us they made decisions about the care and support provided to them. One person said 'it is fantastic here.'

They accessed a wide range of educational, social and leisure activities, outings, work placements and chose holidays. Some people accessed the community without staff support. Each person had keys to their home so they could access it independently.

They told us they were very well cared for and that staff were available when they needed them. One person said 'The staff are very good at looking after us and supporting us.' They had a close relationship with the staff who worked in the home. One person told us 'The staff are always nice to us' and another person said 'I love the staff so much.'

People were able to explain they felt safe living in the home. People knew who to speak to if they were worried or upset. One person said 'If we have a problem we tell the staff. They help us.' Another person told us 'I do feel safe here. The staff have never upset me.'

People who lived in the home and the relatives we spoke with said they were asked for their views on the home. One person said 'The staff ask me if I am happy.' One relative said 'We are asked our opinion. We fill in questionnaires for them as well. They always listen to what you say.'
