Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 21 to 29 June 2026.

The service provides personal care support to adults and people with a learning disability in their own home. At the time of the inspection 6 people received a regulated activity. This inspection was carried out to follow up on the previous rating of requires improvement and to review breaches of regulation in relation safe care and treatment and governance identified at the last inspection.

We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it. We saw the provider was now working within the guidance. Health passports were now available to support people with safe transitions into other services or if they required hospital admission.

The provider now assessed risks to people’s health and safety, and care plans were now available for people with specific health conditions. Medicines records were now more comprehensively completed.

The provider now had safe recruitment practices in place and checks were completed in line with the provider’s policy and legislation.

Audits being completed were now effective and identified shortfalls and actions required to make improvements. We saw where improvements had been made following audits being completed.

The provider had made improvement and were no longer in breach of legal regulations in relation to safe care and treatment and governance.

People's experience of this service

People and their relatives told us they were supported by a small team of staff who knew them well. One relative commented, “Staff seem easy-going, helpful, and are pro-active, which is what [Person] needs.” People told us they felt safe with staff and there had not been any concerns with medicine administration. People felt supported when they transitioned in and out of the service, with positive outcomes reported when people came home from hospital. Relatives felt staff managed people’s risks well. One person told us, “I am happy with the staff. I know most of them well. Before they leave, they always ask me if there is anything else I need. They don’t rush off. If I need extra support on a certain day, because I have an appointment or something, my [relative] phones them to arrange it. They always turn up.”
