During this assessment, we identified breaches of regulation in relation to the environment and governance of the service. The services environments requires further improvement in order to meet the needs of people with dementia. The services governance did not identify concerns in relation to staff’s knowledge regarding covert medicines administration, some staff’s language and missing risk assessments. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment. Guidance about how to meet people’s individual care and support needs was detailed and included important information in relation to people's preferences and routines. The provider had a pre-assessment and review procedure of people’s needs. Overall, staff involved people in decisions and made sure they understood their care and support to enable them to give informed consent.
