During a routine inspection

We spoke with five people who used the service during our inspection. They told us they were satisfied with the care and support they were provided with and said that they liked living at Pentree Lodge. People told us staff were kind and helpful and two people told us they felt safe and would be able to speak with staff about any concerns that they may have. One person said they felt safe at Pentree Lodge and were confident that if they had any problems they could speak to a member of staff. People were satisfied with the support provided to them regarding their medicines and safe systems of obtaining, administering and storing medicines was in place. Staff were knowledgeable about the care needs and support that people required but the care plans did not consistently direct and inform the staff of the action they had to take to meet these care needs.

People told us that they enjoyed the outings the home arranged for them. One person told us about a recent visit to the circus that was very enjoyable to them. Another person told us they preferred to remain in their room watching television and reading.

We identified concerns regarding the safety of people living at Pentree. This was regarding the risk from burns or scalds from unguarded radiators and the delivery temperature of hot water. We observed that damage had been caused to furniture from cigarette burns. It was not clear if the furniture in question was fire retardant.
