We assessed a limited number of quality statements in the responsive key question and found areas of concern. The scores for these areas have been combined with scores based on the rating from the last inspection, which was requires improvement.
This service scored 54 (out of 100) for this area. Find out what we look at when we assess this area and How we calculate these scores.
Person-centred Care
Care plans included written guidance for staff to follow regarding peoples wishes and preferences. We observed people had received person centred care and staff knew people’s routines. One person told us, “I would get a bath or shower if I want one. The same or following day. They most definitely know my wishes. They know how much sugar I like in my tea.” An activities staff member had been recruited and arranged meaningful activities for people. One person told us, “Activity thing is very good. Stuff you’d normally do in the pub. There’s a jukebox you can put on. Live karaoke they do. Lots of craft work. I quite like it.” A staff member told us, “I supported residents with their social needs by, encouraging participation in activities like arts, games, making food. Facilitating social interaction with peers and family, helping them maintaining hobbies and interests. Residents enjoy activities like watching movies and dancing, group exercise, cooking classes, doing arts and crafts, Painting, drawing.” The activities staff member was only in place Monday to Friday. We raised the concerns of boredom during the weekend, and the deputy manager took immediate action during our visit to recruit an activities person for weekends.
