Date of assessment 3 December 2025 to 12 December 2025. We assessed a small number of quality statements from the responsive key questions and found overall areas of good practice. The scores for these areas have been combined with scores based on the key question ratings from the last assessment. The last rating for GHC Nursing Home was good (published 1 October 2025.)
GHC Nursing Home is a residential care home providing personal and nursing care to older adults with physical healthcare needs and people living with dementia. At the time of the assessment the service supported 31 people.
People had detailed end-of-life care plans to ensure they were supported the way they wanted to be supported. Information was provided in a way people could understand, however relatives and professionals did not always find it easy to make contact with the home. People were supported by a range of health professionals such as GP’s and nurses, however, they had not always had an opportunity to have routine health appointments such as vision or dental checks. The home was accessible to everyone living at GHC nursing home.

Not everyone living at GHC Nursing Home could tell us about the experiences of the care they received. Where this was the case, we reviewed records relating to their care, spoke with their relatives, staff and health professionals.
Relatives overall spoke positively about how responsive GHC Nursing home. People felt they could raise concerns at any time and action would be taken. Relatives were involved where appropriate with care planning and decision making for end-of-life care. Information was provided in a way people could understand.
Relatives told us the home did not always answer the telephone when they could not visit to see how their relative was.
Health care appointments were not always offered such as optician, dentist or chiropodist. One relative told us, they continued to have all the health professionals their relative used before they moved into the home visit them at GHC. They arranged this for their relative and had not been offered any of the services from the care home. Another relative told us they were not aware of any routine health checks such as dental.
