During an assessment under our new approach
Date of Assessment: 5 March to 16 March 2026. The service is a care home providing support to older people living with dementia, nursing needs and physical disabilities.
People living at Church View received care that was consistently safe, compassionate and highly personalised, with strong evidence of positive outcomes. The home supported people with complex health needs, frailty and dementia, and staff demonstrated a deep understanding of each person’s history, preferences and emotional needs. The environment was clean, well maintained and free from malodours, with effective maintenance systems, regular safety checks and robust infection prevention and control (IPC) arrangements. Staff were safely recruited, highly committed and described the culture as “like a family”, with strong retention. People told us they felt safe, respected and genuinely cared for, and external professionals consistently praised the home’s communication, preparedness and collaborative working.
Care plans were detailed and person-centred, and staff used appropriate tools to monitor risk, including nutritional assessments, wound care plans, and distress and pain tools. Staff recognised early signs of deterioration and escalated concerns promptly, contributing to strong clinical outcomes such as improved nutrition, healed wounds and reduced distress. Meaningful occupation, community involvement and emotional wellbeing were clear strengths, with staff going above and beyond to support relationships, identity and bring joy, examples included supporting family reunions, personalised celebrations, spontaneous snow-day activities and sensitive end-of-life care.
Feedback from relatives and professionals was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the team’s compassion and attentiveness. Governance systems were honest and robust, identifying risks clearly and driving continuous improvement. The registered manager demonstrated exceptional leadership, fostering an open, supportive culture where staff felt valued and empowered to raise concerns. Overall, Church View demonstrated consistently high-quality care, strong multidisciplinary working and a deeply embedded person-centred ethos
